About Verdantia Tribe
Who makes Verdantia Tribe products?
Every soap and lip balm is handcrafted in small batches by tribal artisans — mostly women — in the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve, in the Blue Mountains of Tamil Nadu, southern India. Verdantia Tribe is the label of Tribal-Bee Inc., based in Mumbai, India.
Where does your beeswax come from?
The beeswax is sustainably harvested from the deep forests of the Nilgiris by local tribal communities. Harvest techniques prioritize the long-term health of wild bee colonies and the surrounding ecosystem.
Are your products vegan?
No — all our products contain beeswax, and some contain honey. They are cruelty-free and never tested on animals.
Are your products cruelty-free?
Yes. We do not test on animals at any stage of production and none of our ingredients are sourced from suppliers who do.
Where do you ship?
We currently ship within India only. For orders or wholesale enquiries outside India, please email contact@tribe-verdantia.com and we'll see what we can arrange.
What is your return policy?
Unopened products may be returned within 14 days of delivery for a full refund. For opened or used items, email contact@tribe-verdantia.com and we'll work with you case by case.
Do you offer wholesale or retail partnerships?
Yes. We partner with small retailers, spas, gift shops, and boutique hotels. Email contact@tribe-verdantia.com with a short introduction and we'll follow up with pricing and MOQs.
Can I visit the artisans who make your products?
Yes — we run small-group travel experiences to the Nilgiris each year. You'll spend a week in the Blue Mountains, meet the artisans, and see each soap and balm being made by hand. Details on our Travel page.
How should I store my products?
Keep soaps on a draining dish, out of direct water spray and sunlight. Store lip balms at room temperature. Unopened soaps last 12–18 months; lip balms last about 12 months.
Do you donate a portion of proceeds?
Yes. A portion of every sale supports forest conservation in the Nilgiris, tribal community programs, and women's empowerment initiatives in the region.
Beeswax Soaps
How long does one bar last?
A 100 g honeycomb bar typically lasts 3–4 weeks with daily use; a 150 g bar lasts 4–6 weeks. Letting the bar dry fully between uses dramatically extends its life.
Is beeswax soap good for sensitive skin?
Beeswax forms a gentle, breathable protective layer that most skin types tolerate well. If you're trying one of our soaps for the first time, patch-test on your inner forearm for 24 hours before regular use. Avoid if you have a known allergy to bee products.
Does the soap contain lye? Is it safe?
Yes — all true cold-process and hot-process soaps, including ours, are made with sodium hydroxide (lye). During saponification the lye fully reacts with the oils, so none remains in the finished bar. What you wash with is a fully cured, skin-safe soap.
Can I use it on my face?
Our soaps are gentle enough for face, body, and hands. If your skin tends to be very dry or reactive, follow up with a moisturizer to lock in hydration.
How should I store my soap?
Keep it on a soap dish that drains well, out of direct water spray. Humidity and standing water are the main enemies of a long-lasting bar. A dry bar between uses can double or triple its effective life.
Are your soaps vegan?
No — they contain beeswax. They are cruelty-free and never tested on animals.
Lip Care
How often should I apply?
As often as your lips feel dry — typically 3 to 5 times a day. Reapply after eating, drinking, or exposure to wind and sun.
What's in the balms?
A simple, food-grade base of beeswax and olive oil, infused with natural fruit, flower, or herb extracts. No petroleum, no synthetic fragrance, no parabens.
Will the balm leave a tint on my lips?
Most of our balms are clear or subtly tinted from the natural extract. The Pink Sky Pomegranate and Berry Trail Strawberry leave the most visible tint; the rest add a soft natural gloss.
Can children use it?
Yes — the ingredients are natural and gentle. Avoid use if a child has a known allergy to beeswax, honey, or any of the specific fruit or herb extracts listed on the product.
How long does one balm last?
With regular daily use, a single balm lasts about 2–3 months.
Are the balms vegan?
No — all our balms contain beeswax. They are cruelty-free and never tested on animals.
Bundles
What's included in a bundle?
Each bundle contains three carefully curated products. The specific scents or products included are listed on each bundle's page — for example, Floral Fantasy contains rose, geranium, and jasmine soaps.
Can I swap scents in a bundle?
The curated bundles come as listed. For custom combinations, email contact@tribe-verdantia.com before ordering and we'll do our best to accommodate.
Is the bundle discount automatic?
Yes. Bundle pricing is already discounted compared to buying each item individually — the price you see is the price you pay.
Do bundles come gift-wrapped?
Each item is individually handcrafted and packaged by our tribal artisans. For gift wrapping, please leave a note in your order comments and we'll do our best to accommodate.
